To cap off your Summer Reading unit, you will be writing an essay on how the author of your summer reading story develops a theme (which you and your group will discuss today).
Essay Timeline
- Tuesday, Sept. 3 — Body paragraph outline due
- Thursday, Sept. 5 — Introduction draft due
- Tuesday, Sept. 10 — Two body paragraphs due
- Wednesday, Sept. 11 — Conclusion due
- Thursday, Sept. 12-Tuesday, Sept. 17 — Typing of essay
- Wednesday, Sept. 18 — Final essay due
English I Essay Requirements
Your 4-paragraph essay will include:
- An introductory paragraph (3-5 sentences)
- 2 body paragraphs (5-7 sentences a piece)
- 1 piece of supporting evidence per paragraph
- A concluding paragraph (3-5 sentences)
- At least 1 of this unit’s vocabulary words.

- Exemplary

Honors Essay Requirements
Your 5-paragraph essay will include:
