How to Apply
Download, fill out, and submit this application in its entirety no later than Wednesday, August 28th at 4 p.m. to Ms. Bair in room 106 to qualify to run for office. If you have any questions or concerns, reach out to Ms. Bair. You may also attend the informational session on Monday, August 26th after school to learn more.
Requirements for Running and Taking Elected Office
- You must be able to attend Monday after school meetings at least every other week (twice a month).
- You must be in good standing with the school both behaviorally and academically; you must have a GPA of at least a 2.5 during your time in Student Government. Good standing is at the discretion of the SG Advisor, HS Principal, and HS Dean of Students.
- While running for office, you are only allowed to post or hand out flyers that have been approved by the SG Advisor for distribution. At that point, she may make copies for you upon request.
- While running for office, all campaigning materials must be within the guidelines for behavior designated in the Student Handbook. This means that all campaigning materials (including your marketing and your speech) must be Memphis Rise Academy HS appropriate, at the discretion of the SG Advisor, HS Principal, and HS Dean of Students.
Dates and Deadlines for Running for Elected Office
- Wednesday, August 28th at 4pm – APPLICATIONS DUE
- Friday, August 30th at 4pm – ALL APPLICANTS NOTIFIED OF NEXT STEPS
- Wednesday, September 4th at 8am – CAMPAIGNS BEGIN
- Friday, September 6th at 4pm – CAMPAIGN SPEECH VIDEOS DUE
- Monday, September 9th during Advisory – SPEECHES SHOWN AND VOTING
- Tuesday, September 10th at 8am – ELECTION RESULTS RELEASED
- Tuesday, September 10th at 4:15pm – FIRST MEETING / SOCIAL
- Monday, September 16th at 4:15pm – FIRST OFFICIAL MEETING
