Drawing and Painting is a studio art class, that will cover a variety of media including drawing, painting, and design. It will allow students to try many materials in the creation of art projects. Students will also learn art history and build understanding of different cultures and how they relate history to their own artmaking. With teacher guidance, students will leave this class with good foundational artmaking skills a basic understanding of the elements and principles of visual art, and the ability to express their own creativity.

Each sketchbook Drawing is worth up to 25pts.
- Every week you will have two assignments for homework.
- This assignment will always be due on Monday and Thursday.
- You will have 14 sketchbook assignments during quarter 1
Requirements for HS Drawing & Painting Sketchbook Assignments:
- Drawings should fill the ENTIRE sketchbook page
- Include DETAILS (include textures & value, unless otherwise specified.)
- Spend between 20 and 40 min on each assignment depending on the difficulty.
- Sketchbooks handed in late will be accepted but 10 points removed for lateness, 2 days late will receive a “0”.
- DRAWINGS NEED TO BE FROM DIRECT OBSERVATION ie: you LOOKING at the objects That means NOT from memory, photos, or imagination. (except where otherwise noted).
YOU MUST LABEL EACH PICTURE at the top with the appropriate title (ex: #1: Value Scale with Drawing Pencil)
